Volunteer Opportunities

The Round Rock Serving Center The Round Rock Serving Center is primarily staffed by 250+ volunteers monthly and volunteers are always needed. Most of their volunteers work a 3-hour shift and training for all areas is provided. You can select from many tasks such as social work interviewers, client receptionists, phone receptionists, computer refurbishing, cashiers, merchandise pricing, donation receiving, clothing sorters, truck drivers, and food pantry volunteers. New Volunteer Orientation is offered on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 4:00 pm and on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month at 1:30 pm. No reservation is necessary. Hygiene Kits Create Hygiene Kits that are distributed to schools, shelters, hospitals, and crisis centers throughout Williamson County. This is a home project. Credit Hours: 1 bag = 2 hours Supplies: 1 gallon Ziploc bags Bar of Soap Shampoo Deodorant Toothpaste Toothbrush Pocket Tissue and/or wipes Small brush/comb You are welcome to add other appropriate items to the bag (examples: non-perishable food items, small game or book, sunscreen, Chapstick, body wash, etc.) Please use full-sized items (NOT travel size) Instructions: Purchase supplies Pack each bag neatly and seal it. Feel free to include a nice note or card. Blanket Buddies Volunteers make no-sew fleece blankets and add a stuffed animal to make blanket buddies! These are given to children living in crisis shelters, in the hospital, or to other area nonprofit organizations. This is a home/business-based project. Diaper Bank for ECI babies We need ongoing support for our diaper bank. Our Early Childhood Intervention program supports families with a medically fragile or developmentally delayed baby. Often our families may struggle with financial needs due to their little one's many needs. We established the diaper bank as a way to help these families during times of crisis. You can help by donating diapers and wipes to the bank. Every $7 used to purchase items equals 1 RIA hour 1009 N. Toy Drive Our Bluebonnet Trails babies need toys, art materials, and tactile materials for our special group classes. Some of the items in need are simple wooden puzzles - with sound is great, washable fingerpaints, musical instruments ( bells, drums, cymbals ) stacking toys, sorting toys, blocks, sponges, Fisher-Price cash register, simple books ( Brown Bear, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, My First Words, Good Night Moon, etc.,) colorful tissue paper, large parmesan cheese bottles, baby wipe containers, large colorful pompoms ( 1-2 inches) glue sticks, bottled glue, orange juice lids, plastic Halloween pumpkin, plastic tweezers, washable markers, pop up toys, play-doh, non-spill bubbles. Serving Center Saturday Afternoon The Serving Center has a lot to get done on Saturday afternoons. This is their opportunity to stock the pantry, sort and price donations, and organize the facility! Dog Walker Give dogs affection/attention, groom them, walk the dogs to help give them exercise, socialize, and get out of the shelter for a while. You choose the size of dog you feel comfortable walking. You may also be asked to talk with customers about the dogs. Birthday Recognition Senior clients and all volunteers receive birthday cards from our agency. They need birthday cards and stamps to mail these and for some, this is the only birthday card they receive!
